If email from someone which you recognize, you better reading it carefully before open attachment file. Worms and virus usually using ugly English and worst structure. Think of possibility, do someone who you recognize will write the email or deliver attachment file like that? If doubt, contact he/she who you recognize to confirm do he/she really send that email before opening the attachment file.
Make sure your computer is protected against endangering things. If new Virus just found, its meaning new threat also found. Many this threat infect the Operating System, like Windows. But some virus also infected other application like web browser, email software, and various application from other 3rd party. Letting computer open to whosoever without secure protected can make the computer easily hacking by hacker.
Make sure to always update your system. Some vendors software, like Microsoft have its automatization utility for detect updating the system and advising/inform to you. Couple of others vendor have mailing-list where you can join in and they will inform each time there is newest update. If your vendor do not offer solution for the problem, its better more often visit its service in support website as routinely to see what is there newest update or patches.
